Training courses

Training is held by SOVZOND leading experts in remote sensing data processing, mapping and GIS.

SOVZOND training center was launched in 2006. Training courses are designed for specialists who work in the sphere of GIS, mapping, geology, natural resources, agriculture and forestry, municipal government and cadastre and for everyone who work professionally with earth remote sensing data.

The listeners are provided with the software user’s tutorials written by key specialists of SOVZOND company. Tutorials include theory and practical exercises.

Working with the basic modules of INPHO photogrammetric system

Under this course all the main photogrammetric tasks are considered including geocoding, DTM (Digital Terrain Model) generation, orthorectification and stereoscopic digitalizing. A special attention is paid to the INPHO modules such as MATCH-AT, DTM Box, OrthoBox, which can be used as well as an independent decision or as a program unit easily integrated in a photogrammetric workflow.

In the end of training all the listeners get the certificate of achievement.

IDL programming language capabilities is a three day course for remote sensing scientists, engineers and developers. This course provides an overview of the programming constructs available in IDL, the language in which ENVI is written, as well as the tools necessary for a user to extend ENVI with IDL, including ENVI library routines, custom file readers and writers, batch mode programs and user functions.

Complex remote sensing data processing using ENVI and ArcGIS for Desktop software

The course is designed to help GIS professionals to analyse, process and share image data into their GIS environment. In this course the listeners will learn how to use the core functionalities of ENVI and also the main features of ArcGIS platform. The listeners will be introduced to all of the ENVI Toolbox tools which are included in the ENVI installation, and learn how to add user’s own processing in ArcGIS.

The course is designed to help GIS professionals to analyse, process and share image data into their GIS environment.   • Image displaying (display menu, working with a display group, using of Available Band List)
  • Reading of raster and vector data (direct access formats and imported formats), working with open files;
  • Region of Interest (ROI) tool: creation, using and analysis;
  • Creation and using of masks.

2-nd day (Theory and practice)

Geometric correction and imagery orthorectification

  • Imagery geocoding using the data and georeferenced images;
  • Orthorectification.

The basis of remote sensing data thematic processing

  • Data pre-processing for thematic analysis. Data calibration;

  • GIS overview: GIS basic functions, types of GIS, GIS application;
  • ArcCatalog basic features: file management, feature class properties review;
  • ArcMap basic features: loading of the different types of data and its visualization, map navigation and search;
  • Managing layers in the map;
  • The use of coordinate systems and map projections.

Managing and editing the spatial data in ArcGIS

  • Spatial objects creation and editing in ArcGIS;
  • Entering attributes and automatic calculation of the attribute values.

5-th day (Theory and practice)

Data analysis

  • Spatial and attribute queries;
  • Using of analytic tools;
  • Working with tables.

Extended capabilities of visualization and hard-copy map creation

  • Data visualization capabilities: symbols, styles, classification;
  • Adding text to a map;
  • Layout creation in ArcGIS.

ArcGIS for Desktop tools and functionality

The course covers the main features of ArcGIS platform to create GIS maps, explore and analyse data behind the maps. In this course the listeners will learn how to efficiently find, explore, manage and analyse geographic data and create informative maps that showcase their work.
